Is It Bad That Every Time I Get Angry Or Upset I Feel The Need To Turn To Alcohol?

I’m only 16 as well, but i have depression and I self-harm.
Recently this summer, every time I felt sad, irritated or upset and angry I would drink until I was drunk. When I was drinking I would get past that happy stage then if i didn’t laugh I knew i would break down crying.
Now I’m back at school, and I was really upset the other night and I just kept thinking to myself ‘I need a drink’. In the end I got some vodka from some boys. I’m not an alcoholic, its only been like 5 times, but every time I get upset/angry I just think of alcohol.
Help? I’m confused and scared. I’m already having counseling..not on medication.

You actually ARE an alcoholic. Try going to AA meetings.

DUHHH, of course its bad lol. you will probably die if you get dumped or something horrible happens lol.
Well all you do is depends on things to make you feel better which is kinda lame. You need to learn to quit doing that and deal with the emotions without self-harming or drinking.
Talk to your phsychiatrist/phsycologist.

Well alcohol is a depressant, but it doesn’t solve your problems, all it does is make them worse.
You could try maybe going to those little groups they have for depressed teens or something, or maybe joining a club or something.

It’s horrible.
Drinking isn’t going to solve your problems,
getting drunk may help you for the night.
but in the long run, its just not worth it.

Just stop drinking for a while then you wouldn’t feel like you need it.
Happened to me and another one of me friends.

You need to go speak with a counselor or a parent. I’ve been in your position and if you keep it to yourself, you’re asking for a lot of trouble. It sounds like you may be clinically depressed, you would really benefit from at least having someone to talk to. If you feel that anti-depressants would help you, talk to a parent about seeing a psychiatrist.
Just remember that alcohol will do NOTHING to help your situation. It will make your situation worse. When you’re in a bad mood, try any of these things to bounce back:
-Listen to a happy song. Sing along to it, dance to it, concentrate on the song and how it makes you feel.
-Take a walk. If there is a place with great scenery where you live, walk there and surround yourself with beauty.
-Read a book or watch a TV show – sometimes focusing on another person’s life can temporarily relieve the bad feelings that we have about our own.
-Find a friend to talk to.
I hope that I’ve helped a little. Just keep in mind that alcohol can only hold you back, especially using it prevalently at your age. Good luck with everything
