Question by Guy: i saw this man promoting a book that promises a cure for alcoholism and addictions!?
it sells for 40 bucks! do you really think that a person struggliong with a drinking or drug problem for years can be cured by reading one book?? is this dr a scam artist, like many others/ and why is public so stupid as to buy into the lies of these frauds, making them filthy rich? like tv preachers and others selling information ON CDS AND DVDS?why do you people buy into the lies?

for one, people buy into the lies of tv preachers, tv salesman, and advertisements because they are impulsive and can not distinguish between necessity and wants. as far the book proposing a cure for alcoholism and addictions, i highly doubt that it would be a cure. it is more likely that it would offer suggestions to the reader influencing them to empower themselves. the book itself IS NOT A CURE. it might just offer help, but if you are willing to help yourself, the book might help in guiding you. however, it is not a guarantee.

What do you think? Answer below!

I would not put my trust or $40 into this book. There are many like this… If there was a miracle book, trust me it would be a BIG deal. Like you said reading a book, means doing it alone; and recovering from that is not possible alone. I believe it really requires groups, therapy, programs maybe. For me the anonymous meetings work. I have a family there. They love you, ALL of them. Its helped me so much. I just got my 90 day chip lastnight. Its so much support and seeing the people around you being clean is amazing and inspiring. You need help you call one of them. They know what your going through because theyve been there. They also have potlucks; events , dances so that you can see how people have fun clean and sober. I reccomend it above anything. Unless you are strongly detoxing, you may need inpatient; but when your done go to a meeting!

People buy in because they’re desperate. People who buy this “miracle cure book” are either: A, alcoholics themselves who are all too happy to delude themselves into thinking that by the simple, effortless act of reading a book, they can turn their lives around (without having to make any significant, purposeful changes themselves), or B, the long-suffering families of alcoholics who can’t manage to make their loved one(s) stop drinking, so they get them this book in the hopes that it might help.

Don’t get me wrong, any effort towards beating alcoholism is worthwhile and a good first step – but thinking that a book is the first and last word in it? Nope. It takes concerted effort and constant vigilance to overcome alcohol abuse.
