I’m doing research for a class report and need input on this question. How has family values influenced substance abuse in the past half century? This is a drug and alcohol counseling class. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you

Lois I answered one of your other questions, but thought to add this: back in the 60’s it seemed almost everyone was atleast trying drugs, and free love. I seems that many of the persons I see now on probation had parents during that period. I seems that the laws were not a strick back then as they are now. So the kids and grand kids used with the family in the 60’s and they are the ones getting arrested and sent to jail. In there they learn more inappropriate attitudes and behaviors and come out worse than before. Then they drag their kids to my office (parole) and the kids think this is the norm and they continue the inappropriate or destructive attitudes and behaviors.. God Bless Reggie

I think that children from a stable environment with a very loving family are less likely to use drugs and alcohol. It seems that a lot of kids who experiment with drugs and alcohol come from bad environments and drugs and alcohol dull their pain and help them cope.

well their are not clear family values anymore so people feel more free to do what they want to do.
