Alcoholism Recovery & Treatment

I’m doing research for a class report and need input on this question. How has family values influenced substance abuse in the past half century? This is a drug and alcohol counseling class. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you

My mom suffered so much because my father was addicted to alcohol. When my dad left us, I vowed to do something to help society deal with people like him. This is why I want to find alcohol rehabs. I want to work there, help out, do some counseling or assist with therapies. I major in psychology, and I like helping people. If anybody could give me information regarding alcohol rehabs, I would really appreciate it.

my girlfriend was convicted for possession of meth 7 years ago. she did some time in prison and finished a 2 year treatment program for substance abuse. she has been clean and sober now over 6 years and currently works as a residential technician at a treatment facility. she very much wants to go back to school and become a certified counselor specializing in addiction issues. she has turned her life completely around and wants to invest all of her time and knowledge into helping other addicts find recovery. what are the steps she should take to become a drug and alcohol counselor? is there a specific course outline to become one?

there is no need for negative comments concerning her past. i just want to be able to help her get into school to pursue what she calls her ‘mission in life’ to help other addicts.

Do they lower your seratonin levels? I only drink on the weekends but I usually drink too much about one weekend night per week. I have noticed anxiety symptoms to be getting worse. I thought I had it under control after extensive counseling but now it’s getting worse. I do not want to ever relive that experience. Could my bad habits be the problem? What should I do?

I want to do drug/alcohol abuse counseling for my career and I was wondering what kind of degrees and such I will need to get there.
I only graduate from high school next year, so I want to know just what I need to get started on to be on my way.
And the job itself means more than any aspect of it to me, but if anyone knows how much it pays that would be helpful too.
