he smoked 4 packs a day, lived the hard & fast lifestyle, but no alcohol in 20 yrs (he’s 53) so this smacked him down….BIG TIME! The problem is, before all of this he was an asshole (sorry) and now he’s a W-O-R-S-E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ASSHOLE. He is just miserable because of all of this, but doesn’t really blame himself for it happening, not that he should, but he never was one to admit responsibilty anyway. I try to help him do things (surg was 9 days ago) and he yells, and is just plain evil. Don’t even mention counseling, he has a loaded gun, and will shoot anyone who suggests it or approaches him on it. Trying to quit smoking has a huge impact, on me as well…I’m trying to quit too, but he stresses me out, I feel like sneaking off and smoking. I’m just hating this situation right now. And sick of smiling in front of others about “How great its going”…..Damn, Im tired. I cleaned the house for 4 days (he was hospitalized 6 days) getting rid of nicotine, and dust…yuk.

I’ve been married, faithfully, to my husb. for 9 years. We have an 8 year old boy.
However, my husband suffers from anxiety and to a lesser degree, depression. It’s gotten worse this year because I went the “tough love” route and I no longer enable his food and alcohol addictions. Despite identifying the problem, offering possible solutions, and making counseling available, he hasn’t taken any steps in helping himself.
When is enough, enough? It’s hard to love an overweight bundle of issues who used to be the light of my life. It’s hard to make plans for the future when I don’t know if he’s going to choose to be well. Is this where I present an ultimatum?
Any thoughts are appreciated.

So my 23 yr old son and I had an agreement. I pay 3000 on his bills if he goes to and stays in college, does not do any drugs or alcohol, continues with 1 hour a month counseling until the counselor releases him. Yesterday he said he won’t go to counseling anymore because he doesn’t think he needs it but he was not released by the counselor. I went alone and the counselor said then he broke the agreement and not to pay. My son did start college, went 3 days and quit saying hes going to look for a job because he just found out his girlfriend is pregnant (yesterday). I have bailed my son out many times over the years and gone through a lot with him. So the counseling is a big thing to me. My son treats me nice when he needs to ask for something but then after that hes not very nice to me so I feel unappreciated and uncared for by him. I want to help my son but it seems all the help doesn’t really help. And even though he may seem okay for now, there have been cycles of bad choices and I worry when and if the next will come. He’s mad at me now because I have told him since he’s not going to counseling, I won’t pay the $3000. I offered afterward that we could renegotiate the agreement and he still would have to go to counseling and he said, “Don’t worry about it”.

Well I expect the obvious answer would be that skin colour, or race specific charities wouldn’t be allowed by law because that would be racist, but if that’s the case then all these organisations must be illegal.

It turns out there are actually over 300 charities which specifically cater for the needs of ethnic minorities, but you can’t register a charity aimed at helping whites, that’s illegal.
Is this equality? Where’s Trevor Phillips from the EHRC when you need him? Maybe he’s busy.http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment…
