Question by MRS. MARTIAN: alcoholism and obeisity a disease?
why is alcoholism considered a disease? I mean, when you quit drinking then you no longer have a disease. Nobody forces you to drink. and the same with obeisity, i can understand that sometimes it caused by other problems but for the most part nobody forces people to eat as much as they do. Neither is contagious so how is considered a disease if you do it to yourself?

It is considered a disease because either one is an addiction disorder. There is very strong evidence that these addiction disorders are genetically derived.
