Question by Ashley: Good effects of alcohol on the body?
I am 22 years old. I had my first drink lastnight. A Barcardi Raz. and I only had one. I was always afraid to do it because I know how bad it is for you. But I was wondering what the good effects of alcohol are on the body if you rarely ever drink it? and what does a buzz feel like? I was kinda disappointed that I didn’t feel anything.

a buzz is like feeling loose and safe and just all warm and fuzzy inside! (in a nut shell)

Question by alani ts: I need to find addiction treatment centers in Oakhurst, California. How?
I have just recently learned that my bestfriend, who moved there just last year, is now very much dependent upon alcohol. We have been keeping in touch with each other and there have been times that she did seem to be drunk as we talked over the phone. Yesterday, though, she admitted to me that she experiences withdrawal symptoms after a few hours of not drinking. I asked her if she wants this to continue on and she says no, that she’s ready to get herself treated. So now I’m here, many miles away, wanting to find a treatment center for her.

Question by Kurtis: Is it a good decision to generally abstain from alcohol use?
I’m not misinformed regarding alcohol. I know it does have some health benefits: it decreases the risk of cardiovascular disease, and moderate drinkers tend to have longer lifespans than either heavy drinkers or abstainers. And it’s unlikely serious consequences will arise from getting drunk every so often. But I also know the dark side of alcohol use. First, the extremes. Many, many people have had their lives wrecked, or at least troubled, by alcohol abuse – either directly or indirectly. I’ve met people like that, and I’ve heard horror stories about it. Alcohol impair judgment, and the consequences are occasionally dire. Now, I want to make this clear – it’s not that I think it’s the “pure, sinless” thing to do (I’m an agnostic), and I’d never judge somebody negatively for enjoying alcohol. And I doubt I’ll never drink alcohol, in fact I have already – one sip of beer and I didn’t like the taste of it.

So basically, I think I’m going to generally abstain for the time being. I have three very good reasons: 1) I don’t really like the taste; 2) I don’t really want to experience a hangover; and 3) I just don’t like the idea of my judgment being impaired. Is general abstinence a good idea? Should I try to incorporate alcohol into my diet?
I’m not saying I’m going to be completely, 100% abstinent from alcohol, just in general. I’m not going to drink very much, if I ever do. I’m sure I will at some point or another.

You sound like you are too young fto buy it anyway, you’ll like it at some point.. You will realize that the amount of fun you have drinking at a party is well worth the hangover. don’t go too crazy.

Question by wickedfrk01: Will oxazepam work for marijuana withdrawal as it would for alcohol withdrawal?
Oxazepam (Alepam, Medopam, Murelax, Noripam, Ox-Pam, Purata, Serax, Serepax) is commonly prescribed to help with alcohol withdrawal, as it’s a benzodiazepine derivative, instead of a full-on benzodiazepine like Xanax or Klonopin, which can easily transfer the addiction (even though these are prescribed for it as well.) What I’m wondering is if it would also help with the symptoms of someone with a physical addiction to marijuana once they have stopped?
