Question by irish joker: rehabilitation centers for muslim alcoholics?
in dubai alcohol is a serious problem among muslims. the government has set up lots of clinics for muslim alcoholics, and they are staffed by non muslims. the government does this to cover up the problem . i know some doctors and nurses who work at these places and they tell me that the problem is chronic among muslim women. most muslim women they say are now turning to alcohol to wipe out their hopelessness. why are muslims trying to cover it up?

She is a brilliant girl when sober, but glass in hand she is a fall-down drunk everyday who blacks out and says and does the worst things while drunk or blacked-out. She is a chain smoker too and I fear she is going to light herself on fire on of these times, or fall out her 3rd story balcony, or worse.

Question by simple: Why is the alcohol rehab program called Alcoholics ANONYMOUS?
Why is it called anonymous? and not something like Alcoholics no-more or rehab or whatever?

Part of the way AA works is that no member discusses what any other member has said. They may reveal things which are deeply personal, and of course nobody wants that blabbed all over. They use only first names as one means of adding anonymity to the process of helping one another stay sober.

I know a lot of people who drink alcohol but are still pretty much normal. I mean, they don’t need to be rehabilitated. So I was just wondering why some people opt to go to those centers and waste away their money.

Alcoholics are different from persons who just drink alcohol. Alcohol, when drunk in moderation, can be harmless. However, if the person has already developed alcoholism, there comes the big difference as alcoholism is a progressive illness. Like other illnesses, this, of course, must be treated. That is why alcoholics need alcohol rehabilitation. This is not a waste of money. The cost of staying as an alcoholic is even greater, because not only would the person be spending more and more on alcohol, he would also have to go through losing his normal life and becoming susceptible to being violent. The cost of rehabilitation is well worth it because that’s what it takes to save a life.

Question by grace: Is there a treatment program for alcoholics in Hudson, New York?
We were asked to do a research about the different activities included in a alcoholic treatment program. I’m really interested in the project and I want to come up with the best report in our class. I’m planning to conduct interviews with alcoholic patients, therapists and counselors. Does anybody know of a great alcohol treatment facility here in Hudson?

There are websites which contains a list of rehabilitation and treatment facilities for alcohol and drug abusers. I’ve posted some of them. Please check them out to see if there’s one in Hudson.
