Amino Acid Therapy for alcoholism or substance abuse issues?

It is based on replenishing lacking brain chemicals which are causing a “reward deficiency” . The Amino acids are given either through IV or orally. Is this medically accepted? More importantly does it work to prevent relapses? Thanks!
