Question by BFM4L: Any good book about triumph over alcohol addiction?
I have a very important family member that suffered from alcohol addiction when they were younger. Then that person went 20 years completely sober, and now recently that person has fallen back into their old ways. Are there any books you could recommend that focus around addiction (especially alcohol) and triumph over it and how they had the strength to overcome it? There was a former CNN anchor that was on CNN a few weeks back promoting her book which mentioned how she was able to get passed her alcohol addiction, but I unfortunately am unable to remember the title. Thanks for any help you can give.

I am an alcoholic and have been clean since august/2006. Since then I wrote a book called addicted to life, How I overcame multiple addictions. My book helped myself and has helped others also with thier own addictions. If you want more info please email me.

Question by jim b: on tv i see a book on the”alcoholism cure”..?
im in recovery and the aa people i talk to say AA is the only way, anyone read the book? input? pls

Answer by Future Doctor
I haven’t read or heard about the book. But I’m sure the book is just a gimmick for you to spend your money on the book. Alcoholism is sometimes “cured” because someone got a wake up call or some psychological change but that can be the same for any addiction. For many if not all it is a physical addiction that your body and mind gets used to it and actually craves it. It is hard to get over any addiction, the book might help change your mindset or it might not. Everybody acts different to addiction/ recovery. What might heal you might not heal someone else and vice versa.

All i can say 100% is stick on your path to your recovery and keep going to your AA meetings. You should be very proud of yourself for trying to recover! Just stay positive even through the hard times.
Hope I helped a little bit

See if you can find any literary agents, if you can. They would be much more able to help you. They will take a percentage of the gross, but at least you’ll have a gross to take it from.

Question by Guy: i saw this man promoting a book that promises a cure for alcoholism and addictions!?
it sells for 40 bucks! do you really think that a person struggliong with a drinking or drug problem for years can be cured by reading one book?? is this dr a scam artist, like many others/ and why is public so stupid as to buy into the lies of these frauds, making them filthy rich? like tv preachers and others selling information ON CDS AND DVDS?why do you people buy into the lies?

Best answer:

Answer by legatus primus
for one, people buy into the lies of tv preachers, tv salesman, and advertisements because they are impulsive and can not distinguish between necessity and wants. as far the book proposing a cure for alcoholism and addictions, i highly doubt that it would be a cure. it is more likely that it would offer suggestions to the reader influencing them to empower themselves. the book itself IS NOT A CURE. it might just offer help, but if you are willing to help yourself, the book might help in guiding you. however, it is not a guarantee.

What do you think? Answer below!
