I filed for a divorce. I then entered into a drug and alcohol treatment center. When I was admitted, I wrote a letter to judge stating that I was in rehab. The judge dismissed the divorce case. A few months later, I filed a motion to have it reopened, but the judge denied it twice. My wife will not file anything concerning the divorce. What do I need to do to have this case re-opened or continued? what is local 6 rule? I do not understand, my wife works just minuets from the court house and she will not do anything to file.

Evidently in your state, you can’t divorce while you are in some kind of treatment center. This is for your protection, so your wife can’t divorce you while you are trying to get clean from drugs or alcohol. The same applies in some states…if the wife is pregnant, you can’t divorce until the baby is born.

I was reading a story there about a divorce that happend because of abusive behaviors related to drugs and alcohol. I decided to share my story in hopes of helping someone who may read it.

I doubt it’s them being unfaithful, and more like having a very stressful work environment. The stress causes them to drink and the long hours causes them to divorce. But this is all just conjecture.

I am considering pursuing a career in law enforcement but after having done a little bit of research and talking to a couple of police officers it seems that law enforcement personnel are plagued with alcoholism, spousal abuse, suicide, and divorce. Supposedly their rates for these four categories are higher than the national average. What can explain for these trends and how stressful and fun is a career in law enforcement.. (I would preferably like responses from current or former police officers but anyone is welcome to answer. Please state whether you are involved in law enforcement)

I have not seen a single statistic to support your claims of alcoholism and abuse. If you have one, please post it.

I have seen a statistic on divorce that puts police at 60%. This may seem high, but the average for the entire US is 55%, so it is only slightly higher. You can probably account the extra 5% simply to working holidays, weekends, and lots of overtime.

Suicide has always been high in the police profession due to the stress, long hours, shift work, high expectations, and the fact they see the worst of society on a daily basis.

White males have some of the highest rates of divorce, alcoholism, and out of wedlock children(Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Finland, France, etc) lead in Europe with this. IS it bigoted to not get romantically involved with white men b/c of this? If many of them are great, why are 50% or more of them divorced from their first or even second wives to begin with? Surely, it can’t be the woman’s fault all the time, can it?

Wife Wants Couseling Now? After Cheating For 18 Months But Now Ants Divorce Two Days Later?

wife left me and the kids…I am now a single father. Short story. She went kind of looney…dated guys…some half her age. Some older then her. Got addicted to alcohol, cyber,webcam sex some with 17 year olds..she is 35. She is currently in lvoe wiht an 18 year old from teh UK who she plays xbox live with and cybersexes with. Anyway she said this past tuesday that she lost feelings and trust for me and wants to go to counseling to try and sort this out and if it helps we can stay together if not move on. I dont know what trust she lost in me since I have been faithful? I filed for divorce about a yr ago. She was diagnosed bipolar in rehab but is not gettign treatment since she thinks she is fine. She also barely sees the kids and got a tattoo on her lower back after she left saying, ” Enjoy the Ride”
Anyway I said no to counseling since I am trying to move on….I think she needs help 1st. I thought maybe she would get help to better herself. two days later she said that she will now sign the divore paperwork once her benefirts go through at ehr job. (She is on my benefits) How do you go from wanting counseling to really wanting to complete the divorce in two days? She is hot and cold…why is this? Do you think she will want to stay marreid in two days? I just dont understand…its been this way for the apst 17 months!

My Wife Is A Shrew. Shouts At Me Day And Night. Any Ideas, Other Than Divorce?

My wife shouts at me day and night – at any little thing. I am in a de-tox progrom for alcohol (successful so far). She was requested by her doctor to not shout at me during this 2 week period. Does not stop her – picks on any little thing and shouts about my family, my housework, anything.
By the way I make a very decent salary in the silicon valley and support my wife and my 2 kids. I am not perfect but do the best that I can.
I try to resolve issues by discussion but get shouted at in return. This is a pattern with us.
What are options other than divorce (she refuses to go to counseling)? We have 2 little children

I have used that threat in the past and he just brushes it off. He has had an affair and we both decided to go through counseling and but he has neglected to go. He still has the same tendencies as far as his drinking and not coming home until the very next morning. He also has issues with illegal steriod usage and alcohol. Please provide some insight as to what to expect during the whole divorce process. We have (2) young children that could possibly be in danger with his reckless lifestyle.

Do I Need An Attorney For My Divorce?

When I decided to file for divorce, I went the cheap way and hired a negligent paralegal off Craigslist who advertised low cost non contested divorces. He claimed his dad supervises him, big lie.
The nut did file the divorce, but has messed up along the way numerous times. He sent the citation for service to the wrong county, so it got hung up. And on the divorce papers put his own address, and my name… so now I could not get any divorce papers, even if I tried.
I was referred to a great attorney, with over 50 years of experience. He told me to come in for a consulatation.
Do I need one, even though the paralegal did file it, and it did get to the court house? My husband seems to be contesting, as he wrote down on his “answer” that he “the respondent denies everything”.
I would like random drug, alcohol, and mental counseling/eval’s for my husband. And this paralegal hasn’t the power to get that done.
Attorney needed, or attorney not needed?
