Question by kelly825782003: Have you ever dated or been in a relationship with a guy who is in rehab and going through recovery (alcohol)?
What were the difficulties you experienced? Was it hard to get an emotional side from that person, or hard for them to open up about things? Did you feel that they were not really ready or serious about a relationship?

Ya I once dated Bill Gates back in the day when he was a rebel. Beating up nerds and chugging alcohol. He got arrested 8 times and got sent to rehab never heard from him again.

That’s a head trip question eh?
I guess alcoholics CAN become clean… eventually, that is a fact.
Different people become clean in different ways for different reasons, this may have been enough to help them?
Maybe they weren’t an alcoholic in the first place? Maybe they were and are stealthing alcohol when they can? Maybe they will take it back up, maybe not.
I guess time will tell all for this case eh?

Question by xandra: Have ever you try alcohol withdrawal symptoms? Do anyone know how long it takes to recover?
I had drink a plenty of red wine every night for a year? Then I day I stoped and suddenly the second day I started to have insomnia. Almost 3 months. I try valerian and melatonin only sometimes works. Now I still don’t know the reason that I can’t sleep well because when I don’t need to work next day I sleep better. Maybe job stress.
Don’t say to me I need 18 months to recover.

Question by Lothar of the Hill People: How you ever been to alcohol detox?
What are your experiences? Did it work?
Best answer:
Answer by Kelly P
As with anything else worthwhile, you get out of it what you put into it. If you are going in expecting to be “fixed” then no, it won’t work. But if you are going in to learn how to not drink, and be a sober person, then yes it will work. The detox part isn’t too bad. They will give you medication to keep you comfortable and medically safe. That should last from 3-5 days. I would suggest staying for rehab, not just going home after detox. There is a lot of behavior modification that you will need to learn. You can’t just keep doing everything the same and expect not to drink.
I wish you luck.
