Question by maximus: Dads, did you stop drinking alcohol, beer, when you had your first baby?
I myself used to drink almost every weekend. But now that I had my baby girl, I stoped drinking just all of the sudden. It’s been more than 2 months now and I don’t really have the craving to drink anymore, or at least for now anyway. I kind of don’t mind it, because I save alot more money. I was just wondering if there are some people out there that has experience the same thing?

I think it really depends on how much and how often you drank. Make sure you mention it to your doctor so that they can keep a close eye on the baby to see if it will have anything wrong with it.

One of my closest girl friends married last month and promptly expressed her desired to have a baby. I am bothered because she’s an alcoholic, though she doesn’t want to admit it. When I advised her to undergo treatment first, she just fired back another question to me.

its good to stop so you have a healthy pregnancy but before i found out i was pregnant i was drinking…of course i stopped once i found out (at about 6 weeks)and my baby is perfectly healthy

Before I knew I was pregnant, I was having 1-2 glasses of wine a few times a week. No bar trips, just drinks with dinner, but I was only about 110 pounds so I am worried about the effects.
I am 35 weeks pregnant now, and have had a healthy pregnancy. Just wondering how alcohol affects pregnancies during the first few weeks. My doctor doesn’t seem concerned, but maybe he doesn’t want me to worry. Thanks.

I had done the same thing and my children were o.k. just make sure that you don’t do it anymore. And I was 110 pounds as well. Good luck!!!

that’s a great big YES! I got it from my father, and he got it from is father. And they died of alcoholism. I’m working on it. The 100% Irish blood don’t help. Really I try to not drink, been to AA and treatment. Quit for 7 years, then i got sick of aa and started to drink again. But I’m trying to stop again. Down deep in my heart and soul, i know it will someday kill me.
