Hi, did you have personal experience with this? Not being nosey at all. I need to get as much info as i can. I know i’m in for a major challenge.

depends how bad the alcoholic is….it may need to be done in a hospital rehab setting. The withdrawl is dangerous enough to cause DEATH….I’m not kidding.

Milder detox cases can get by with a benzodiazapine type drug (valium)…

AA is usually part of the followup. Look up the DT’s…or delirium tremens

Intense therapy!
For a person with alcoholism it may be excruciating. They are trying to recover from addiction and the cravings are still there. So ther is a lot of discomfort for them.
Generally their daily routine is much the same as yours in the sense of food intakes and daily tasks of housework and self image care.
They have to attend meetings and undertake to examine their reasons for taking alcohol in such excess.

The steps of recovery for an alcoholic are available from any local AA center and are spiritual in their approach rather than religious. This spiritual approach is not for all and many leave the program as a result. But amazingly these same people at a later date will return and often embrace the program with greater fervor in order to get their life back in some semblance of order.

Some may receive medication to help lessen the effects of withdrawal, some may undergo other methods. But the aim is always towards avoidance of alcohol in the future.

Looking after alcoholics is much easier than doing the same for those who are addicted to drugs. I have looked after both and so I can say this from experience. Alcoholics have mostlyu experienced some quality of life, employment, marriage, children and some social standing within the community before they vrashed. So there is an age bracket here where some things have been experiened as a normal part of growing up.

With those addicted to drugs, many of them have not achieved much in life and are too young to remember the good things, or times prior to addiction. This group has a greater problem plugging back into a society that they wer once an integral and participatinf part of. Some may be exceptions like pop stars and film stars, but their life has often been a sort of fantasy trip rather than a reality in quality life.

Maybe your local health services department can give you info. I also think it would be good if you go to various rehabs to ask them about their treatment methods, medications used, etc. To find rehabs, just use the links below. You can also call a helpline such as 800-559-9503. They’ll be able to help you in your search, as well as answer your questions regarding substance abuse.

You could check on a Christian 12-step addiction recovery group. Ask a Baptist church where there is one near you. You could call a library about finding local info about a live-in program too. Also, God can help you live a better life if you want Him to help you. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end — time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God’s blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can’t explain the world’s natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner’s prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.” I’m Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could try out a Christian church and also see about their weekly Bible study group to learn about God’s will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life.
