Question by Canada S: My fiance is in an alcohol treatment center. How do I know if it will work long term?
I am nervous about actually tying the knot, now that I am aware he is still having troubles maintaining sobriety (when I first started dating him, he said he had “been in recovery” for several years). He had in actuality been binging alone about once a month. He went into treatment on his own, but has been in a treatment center before and didn’t stay sober. I know that relapse can be a part of the recovery process, but where should I draw the line? I truly love him and want to support his efforts at sobriety, but I am unsure where to draw my boundaries. How long do I wait to get married, and if he relapses, what do I do? If he is willing to get help, should I stay?

unfortunately you can’t tell. there is no answer. recovery is a life long process! you really have to decide if you can help be his support system. personally i would stay, i would be there but i would make it known any relapses he has, he needs to get help straight away because i will not watch him destroy himself. best wishes

Question by abigail s.: I want to find an alcohol rehab in Wyckoff, New Jersey but I don’t know how. Can anyone help me with this?
I just really want to help an old friend of mine. We’ve been friends since childhood and I didn’t anticipate that it would end up like this– that she would someday (which is now) be an alcoholic. We have always looked out for each other, and she has always been kind of like a big sister to me. So now it’s my turn to be like a big sister to her by helping her find an alcohol rehab for herself. How will I do this?

A good thing to do would be to take her to a doctor. The doctor will be able to assess her situation as well as tell you of the treatment programs and alcohol rehab that you should take her to. You can also check out the links below that I have provided. These contain lists of the alcohol rehabs in the area you have specified. I really hope that your friend gets well soon. It’s always tough to see a loved one suffering from the effects of alcohol addiction. Good luck.

Question by gone2soon: Does anyone know?
My son, the one pictured, is seeking an alcohol/drug treatment center that is affordable. He has been an addict most of his life and now, at age 33, is needing to go into treatment badly, like yesterday!!!! He’s been in treatment before and it’s helped for a time, and now is broke, using, and in desperate need of being in a live in treatment center. If you know of any in the Illinois/ Missouri area please let me know. I am/ he is desperate! Thank you.

Question by : Does your governments and religions allow you to use alcohol or do they pretend they don’t know that you are?
We Aliens are not allowed to use any intoxicating substances at all. In fact it never crosses our minds. But we see Earthkind walking around sloshed all around your planet. We’re not even talking about the abuse of other chemical substances. This behavior may compel us to wrap up our missions trying to be of help to you.

Question by andie l: I want to be able to find an alcohol rehab in Manhattan, New York. Does anyone know of one?
I’ve been relying on alcohol lately, and it’s gotten to the point wherein it’s already a problem. My marriage is already experiencing strains because of this. I want to get help. How should I start?

Answer by deirdre r
There’s this Center for Marital and Family therapy in Manhattan. You could try checking that out and see if they do treatment programs for alcoholics like you. Otherwise, they could help you patch up things with your husband and to better your relationships at home.

Good luck!
