Question by jenny c: What should I do when I don’t like my mother and never want to see her again?
I am the only girl of 4 children. My mother LOVES her screwed up sons, but hates me.

I am 24 and have made a good life for myself, I was a really good kid and never got into trouble!

She invites me over and then tries to fight with me about stupid stuff (like my brother’s alcoholism, things that happened when I was a kid that she says never happened, my husband and I planning our first child!)

I end up telling her I need to go home because her arguments escalate and she won’t let it go until she wins!

She was verbally abusive to me as a kid, it took a year of counseling to accept that my mother doesn’t treat me with respect or love.

I have come to terms with the fact that she will not change, and although I love her because she is my mother, I do not like her as a person.

I honestly never want to see her face again.

I am a happy person, but when I see her I am miserable and end up leaving her house looking and feeling like the bad guy.

What do I do?
I cut her off completely for 6 months and she is back to her old tricks again!
I wrote her a 5 page letter about how she hurts me and why I don’t like seeing her anymore.

She told me it was B.S. and said she was keeping the letter to show me what a bad daughter I am!!!

Question by : Do Women Like A Man In Uniform?
I’m a Trainee Janitor at the drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre here in detroit and I wear a blueish gray uniform. It is relatively clean except for a couple of stains I have left because it adds character. It smells a bit like toilet duck (very expensive) mixed with (fresh) sweat.

Sometimes I take my mop home with me.

I don’t see how any woman could resist that.

Question by kscha925: What is it like working at a treatment center?
I might be getting a job at a residential treatment center for people 18+. It’s strictly for people with drug and alcohol violations, they aren’t supposed to have serious psych disorders, apparently. Also, it’s not really a rehab, it’s kinda like post-rehab. Anyway, the position is for a residential tech, like monitoring the place, and stuff. It is entry level, and I’m new to this, so I’m wondering what it might be like. Anyone have good experience? Bad experiences? What does the job usually entail? I know I won’t be doing counseling or anything.

Question by ladeecapulet: What is day-day life really like at an alcohol treatment center? Info needed as part of my studies. Thank you?

Intense therapy!
For a person with alcoholism it may be excruciating. They are trying to recover from addiction and the cravings are still there. So ther is a lot of discomfort for them.
Generally their daily routine is much the same as yours in the sense of food intakes and daily tasks of housework and self image care.
They have to attend meetings and undertake to examine their reasons for taking alcohol in such excess.

The steps of recovery for an alcoholic are available from any local AA center and are spiritual in their approach rather than religious. This spiritual approach is not for all and many leave the program as a result. But amazingly these same people at a later date will return and often embrace the program with greater fervor in order to get their life back in some semblance of order.

Some may receive medication to help lessen the effects of withdrawal, some may undergo other methods. But the aim is always towards avoidance of alcohol in the future.

Looking after alcoholics is much easier than doing the same for those who are addicted to drugs. I have looked after both and so I can say this from experience. Alcoholics have mostlyu experienced some quality of life, employment, marriage, children and some social standing within the community before they vrashed. So there is an age bracket here where some things have been experiened as a normal part of growing up.

With those addicted to drugs, many of them have not achieved much in life and are too young to remember the good things, or times prior to addiction. This group has a greater problem plugging back into a society that they wer once an integral and participatinf part of. Some may be exceptions like pop stars and film stars, but their life has often been a sort of fantasy trip rather than a reality in quality life.
