How does he afford the booze? Alcoholism is expensive too.

EDIT: yes I know its a serious problem, but as you said only the friend can help himself. PLUS, this guy is wanting to know about “free” programs – looking for a handout, and while it may be for a good cause, I was just making the point that his friend obviously has the money for a rehab program, but he has to stop buying the booze.

contract your county health department they will help here out.
in the meantime, get the phone book and check AA. have her make an immediate visit there to begin the process.

You can go to Alcoholics Anonymous for free. Check your phonebook and call for meeting times. There’s one soon.

Question by allicat4848: Is there an alcohol rehab that doesn’t cost any money?
I have a friend in Colorado that has not got a job. He has a bad alcohol problem, but no money to goo to rehab. Plain old 12 step meetings are not enough, he needs more help than that. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Do you have an extra room in your house? You could always lock him for a month till he gets it out of his system.

Question by Jon Skae: How do I get into a 30 day alcohol treatment with no money?
I need to get into a treatment facility bad. I am 21 and am low income with no health insurance. There has to be something I can do, alcohol is destroying my life and I am ready to get help, but when I call places they ask me to tell my parents to sell their house for treatment. Please lead me in the right direction, there has to be grants or something, Just becuase I am poor doesnt mean I should die.

Why not ring Alcoholics Anonymous and ask their advice?

The places you have contacted sound totally heartless. AA will probably have answers, or suggestions re where you can get help.

I don’t know where you live, but the 2 links below mwntion free help. whether the free help is for finding a facility I don’t know, but they must have information. You just can’t let your parents sell their house, they must be distressed enough already.
Good Luck.
