I am the only girl of 4 children. My mother LOVES her screwed up sons, but hates me.

I am 24 and have made a good life for myself, I was a really good kid and never got into trouble!

She invites me over and then tries to fight with me about stupid stuff (like my brother’s alcoholism, things that happened when I was a kid that she says never happened, my husband and I planning our first child!)

I end up telling her I need to go home because her arguments escalate and she won’t let it go until she wins!

She was verbally abusive to me as a kid, it took a year of counseling to accept that my mother doesn’t treat me with respect or love.

I have come to terms with the fact that she will not change, and although I love her because she is my mother, I do not like her as a person.

I honestly never want to see her face again.

I am a happy person, but when I see her I am miserable and end up leaving her house looking and feeling like the bad guy.

What do I do?
I cut her off completely for 6 months and she is back to her old tricks again!
I wrote her a 5 page letter about how she hurts me and why I don’t like seeing her anymore.

She told me it was B.S. and said she was keeping the letter to show me what a bad daughter I am!!!

My mother has severe alcoholism. she drink from literally from the time she wake up, until she goes to sleep. She literally drinks from 5 in the morning, to 10 at night. I have tried relentlessly to get her help, to no avail.

I am having a lot of trouble accepting the fact that she might not ever get better, and may very well die from this.
I don’t want to join a group or anything. I don’t think I can take talking face to face with people about my problems.
What do I do?

They have meetings you can Attend online for alnone and i understand my mother was a pill popper and it was really hard to talk about it face to face. I started with the book and then online now i go to meetings. my family was high class and all so i did not want any one to know what i was doing cause i did not want them to know about my moms problem i was 13 and now my mom has started aa and has got a 90 chip. the book works with you not with their problem real try it and i will pray for you and your mother. God and them our the only ones that can fix their problems.

I would like informatin on drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers for a mother who would like her three month old child with her. Any listings for California and possibly the closest to Redding California. It is not a court ordered situation just a person wanting rehabilitation and to find her right path in life.She is a Native American Indian so if there are Native American Indian Rehabs we would like that information also.

as long as you dont feel yourself getting addicted, I dont see a problem with it, but be careful if it runs in the family

Ok, I will try to make it short. I have been married for 12 years, I got married shortly after I turned 19, we knew each other only 8 months before we got married. Throughout these 12 years we have had many ups and so many downs. We have gone through 2 miscarriages, 2 births to healthy baby boys. We have dealt with domestic violence, I told him I was leaving him once and he punched me several times in the arm and the leg. I have begged him for more attention and affection and all he ever gave me was a hard time and then would give me a hard time about how I didn’t put out enough or give him enough freaky sex. When we first got married there was a girl who was in love with him who liked to talk about how good of a father he would make and how she knew him so much longer than I did and how good he looked naked (in front of our co-workers) and when I asked him to tell her to stop he refused and told me I was overreacting. I cheated on him after 7 years, several times while I was deployed. I found naked pics of ladies on his computer and emails of him making an appointment with some girls from craigslist which he says he didn’t follow through with. He told me he only started doing that after I told him about my indiscretions yet I found emails from prior to (which I’m not too mad about because I was doing wrong then, its about what he told me). I can add many more. I have been going to counseling and I am on antidepressants, I have struggled with depression since i was a teenager, I used cutting as a coping mechanism and alcohol to self medicate as a young adult and I have had several suicidal gestures and tried to overdose once in the past year. There’s a lot to tell about the past year since that’s how long it’s been since I told him about my indiscretions and I understand that he’s upset, rightfully so, however he tells me that he forgives me then later on proceeds to yell at me for what I did. He tells me that he trusts me again then brings everything up and tells me how horrible what I did was (which I agree with) every few weeks, I listen to him go off on me for at least 30 minutes on how at least he didn’t lie, at least he didn’t betray my trust, at least he didn’t put me at risk, at least he didn’t do the worst thing anyone could ever do. Now he says he can’t take this life because people use him and then dump him. I have tried to leave in the past but it’s always been an all or nothing thing with him. I begged to go to marriage counseling over the years. Finally he agrees to go then wants to stop going after a few sessions. He wants to go now that I want to leave. He says he’s done with this life because I used him. I am at my ropes end (literally) and I don’t know what to do. I have a months worth of Ambien that I feel like i need to take soon.

Dr. Phil Show Tonight……..single Mother And Teen Son, And Single Mother Who Favors Middle Son?

I was just wondering how everyone felt about a couple of issues concerning the show tonight…….#1 do you think that the woman who was sent to rehab should be sent so far away from her teen son, even though she has issues with alcohol, doesn’t he still need her to be around in some capasity? maybe she could get help more locally? and dr. phil just doesn’t get at all that “maybe” she does drink because her son is driving her crazy, he is so angry, and violent, punching holes in walls and now they have to vacate their home…because of damage…dr. phil did not suggest any help for him at all…anger management? counseling? something?…. I feel so sorry for the 14 year old boy from the single mom with the three kids, where she favors her middle child..the baby still has a chance……..any input? just wondering what people thought about the show tonight………….

Mental illness and alcohol are factors; also last contact included some violence. Children are not allowed by father to discuss it openly, except to demonize mother. Counseling currently not an option. Looking for an age appropriate book, perhaps, that deals with loss – specifically loss by choice. A parent resource would be good also. I am aunt of children; concerned about possible feelings of misplaced guilt, anger, loneliness, love.

My mother has been a drug and alcohol user for at least 20 years that I know of. She has recently been ordered to a 28-day program, one year of structured living in a halfway house and counseling as well as some monetary fines for an alcohol-related accident she was involved in. She has not spoken to me in about 2 years because she has been so involved in her own world and has just recently written me a letter disclosing all that I’ve written so far and has asked me to tell her how she has hurt me in my life. I don’t even know where to start and I need some help in how to deal with her addictions, her choices and all that, how to answer this letter, how to ‘cope’ with all this myself and if, when and how I should participate in the rebuilding (or building) of our relationship.
