Question by Rainy D: Is past treatment for drug and alcohol abuse private?
I’ve been accepted to LPN school and on the physical sheet they ask if I’ve ever been treated for drug or alcohol abuse. I really don’t want to reveal this, some people are very judgmental when it comes to that. But it says on the bottom that knowingly giving false information can result in dismissal to the program, I went to rehab 7 years ago. Shouldn’t this be my business? Do I have to reveal this?
If I answer yes can they take back my acceptance to the program?

This is something that a good lawyer should be able to answer in a phone call without a charge. Look for one that handles drug and alcohol charges. I believe that unless a legal charge was filed, that you don’t have to report it – but I wouldn’t swear to that under those circumstances.

Good luck

Question by You’re gonna love my nuts!: Should I divulge my past struggle with alcohol abuse on a college acceptance essay?
I’m returning to school after not having been in school for thee years. I did get an associates degree (after several years of going to several community colleges). My GPA is substandard, and my transcript littered with multiple withdrawals and failed courses. A big problem I had was that I had a serious drinking problem and suffered from severe depression.

However, I got treatment and have not had a drink of alcohol since 2008. I do have a degree, though my GPA is garbage. Would it be wise or unwise to divulge my struggle with alcohol and depression on a college acceptance essay? Even if I have goals set for myself and have moved beyond these struggles, would it hurt my chances of getting in?

Sometimes you have to take that risk. You have to show yourself to the colleges, being compeltly open and honest with who you are and why you are there, and why they should give you a change.

Say it in a way that shows personal growth.

Question by ☼grundle goat☼: Can an Employer Fire you for a Past Conviction?
scenario: In Tennessee you are on parole. you are a recovering addict – 6 years clean and sober. you apply to work at a drug and alcohol treatment center. you are honest about a felony drug conviction 6 years ago and state that is the reason you are on parole, but that you have completed drug treatment and have been clean 6 years. they Hire you. you go through orientation and have worked for two weeks. they tell you your background check has come back and they must let you go (fire your a**) is this not discrimination? the application asked if you had been convicted of a felony in the past 7 years and you told them about the drug charge. you also told them that there may or may not be other charges that would show up depending on how far back the check went. now all of a sudden they have a problem with you because of a theft charge from 9 years ago. even though you were completely honest! is there anything that can be done? does this scenario qualify as discrimination?

Question by major question asker: If I have been in drug and alcohol counseling and have used drugs in the past can I still enlist into the army?
?

Best answer:

Answer by Dani
You can, but don’t tell them that you have taken them. Once you tell them “you have taken illegal drugs” your done lol they will not talk to you they will just send you on your way.

Keep somethings to yourself if you want to enlist.
