My Soldier is in the trial process for DUI in the state of Washington. One of his options is deferred prosecution, which is a program that includes rigorous alcohol and drug education and counseling. The problem with this program is that a probation of 5 years is added to the mix. I don’t want my Soldier to be ineligible for promotion for 5 years if he will be flagged for the entire period of his probation. The reg on Suspension of Favorable Actions doesn’t say anything about probation from a civilian court. Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing?

I got in a misdemeanor DUI wreck in 2005 in Weld County, Colorado. I received some fines and was ordered 2 years probation with alcohol counseling and random breath tests. I paid all my fines but never showed up for the treatment. I am from Kansas and had just moved to Colorado when I got in my DUI wreck. No one was hurt, I was the only vehicle involved.
I moved back home to Kansas about a year and a half ago, and naively assumed that since I had paid my fines the court might not come after me. I now have a warrant for my arrest.
I need to know what I should do. I am thinking about taking a bus to Colorado and turning myself in, but I am completely broke and can’t afford an attorney. I am trying to join the military, which is why I’m looking into this now.
What will happen to me if I just go turn myself in? I was originally given 90 days in jail but they let me off on probation.
PLEASE HELP! Let me know what legal actions I should take, and what to expect. THANK YOU!!

I was arrested in Pennsylvania for DUI, underage drinking, and possession of a small amount of marijuana last October. I was placed on probation in April. I live in New York and my probation officer said that since I was in treatment (drug and alcohol counseling was one of my requirements to get back into school), not to worry about probation until I got back to school (in Pennsylvania).
Well, I finished my counseling here in New York and have about a month and a half until I go back to school and into the jurisdiction of my probation office, which means that I am not getting drug tested until I either go back or they transfer it over.
Is there a good chance that they will transfer jurisdiction to New York even with such a short amount of time left until I’m back in Pennsylvania?

I’ve been on probation for six months now, half of my probation sentence for a dui, and I’m just wondering how often my color will be called for random screening, and how to go about getting my probation mitigated.
The reason I’m asking is not because I’m worried about passing the tests, but because it costs me a lot of lost time at work to take them. And I’m the sole provider for my son, so every hour counts.
I started the probation six months ago, and I had to do drug and alcohol counseling, as well as an assessment to determine my addiction level. When the assessment came back with the results saying that I needed no further treatment, my P.O. got pissed, and decided to assign me a color for random testing. This woman has not liked me from the moment I set foot in her office. She threatened to lock me up for V.O.P. when she found out I was taking cough syrup, for a cold, and I wasn’t sure if it contained alcohol. I’ve never been in any trouble with the law before, so if I don’t understand what she’s talking about and ask her a question, I get bitched at and threatened some more.
I have all my fines paid off, I’ve satisfied everything the court has asked of me, except the last six months of this probation. That is why I’m curious how to go about mitigating it.
