Question by JayJay: How accurate are psychological tests?
about a month ago I had psychological analysis tests and got diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I don’t believe i have it though, It’s clear that my problem is associated with weight problem(I gained 130lb in a year. I developed eating disorder and alcoholism after some personal problems.)

I mean, come on. anyone would go crazy if they gained 130lbs in a year. It must be a misdiagnose.

You are missing the point… We all have some disorders, everyone of us… The tests just point you to a good place to start working from. If you gained all that weight, and started drinking harder, there is a problem. The diagnosis is only as good as how you performed in the tests. This is often flawed. Because your conscious answers are not inline with your sub conscious motives. Eating and drinking a lot becomes a bad habit from a bad state of mind. Viktor Frankl has noticed that people need to have meaning and a reason to live.

Selfish happiness never works… If you want a cure. The cure is to find your meaning in life. Because your life is special and you can help others.

Develop your talents and help people in the way you can help their lives. Meaning is the fuel that drives people.

Question by LivaPud: psychological and socialogical factors to do with alcoholism?
I can think of family not wanting to be around the person, labelling, social exclusion…

Best answer:

Answer by docjp
The primary psychological causal for alcoholism is an intense fear of oneself, taken-on in early childhood and deeply repressed within ones MIND realm.

This fear is unfortunately communicated to the MINDs of individuals around such a person… if they are vulnerable to these “vibrations”. This phenomenon is what causes what is called the “enabler” syndrome.

The main “problem” with treatment today is that few of those who are licensed to treat the alcoholic are actually clear enough psychologically to do so. Since ones own course of psychotherapy is not required today for licensure, the vast majority of those in mental health today are not at all competent to help.

The reason for focusing on “factors” that supposedly contribute to alcoholism is easy to explain when one realizes that those focusing so intently outside of the alcoholic for “reasons”…. have nothing else they can do.

Until the psychological “causal” is eliminated, relapse from a dryout is inevitable.

Peace
