Question by lymewyre916: Will Promethazine show up on a drug test?
Im in an intensive outpatient all-day program for Alcoholism and I have been sober for ten days but i have this leftover promethazine from some of the drugs they gave me for withdrawal. I’m really having a hard time getting to sleep because I’m used to just passing out from alcohol and painkillers and I know promethazine makes you tired and wanted to try it to help me sleep. Will this drug show up on a piss test?
Also dont lecture me I probably know more about drugs and alcohol than most of you unless you are in the medical field. I took a chemical dependency class in college and passed with an A
…they never talked about drug tests just effects and addiction

Promethazine is a non-narcotic prescription so it will not show up. Prescriptions medications that are narcotics such as Lortab, Ambien, Xanax, Valiums, show up but not regular class medication and promethazine is a regular prescription and the ingredient is not narcotic

I was arrested for public intoxication but i wasnt charged with anything..as a matter of fact the jailer said it was a “freebie” and released me after i “Sobered up” , would this by anychance show up on my background check?

Drank a whole bottle of beer the other night and made herself a screwdriver. Usually sneaks vodka in to any of her drinks just to get the buzz.

I have a neighbor who always goes home drunk. I think his kids are getting really affected by this. His wife is abroad, so it’s just him and the kids at their house. I was just wondering whether he needs alcohol rehabilitation already as I feel sorry for the kids.

It sounds like he already needs rehab. If alcohol is controlling his life in such a way that he comes home drunk even though he is superviising his children while his wife is away, then it’s got control of him and he needs help. If in doubt, report it to CPS – the children need to be protected above all. This is not to say he’s a bad father – he just needs help and the kids need to be taken care of. I’m sure he loves them – he just loves the bottle more.
