Question by fakeflowers: I stopped drinking alcohol over a year ago. I’m no longer in a treatment program that does random testing?
How can I arrange for random alcohol testing? Through my family doctor? Private clinic. I’m willing to pay. I’m no longer eligible for the random testing in the treatment program because of the length of my sobriety. I would like the random testing to keep my difficult ex-husband assured and perhaps to give me another year of “babysitting” though I do go to AA frequently and am feeling great about my sobriety.
I am in aftercare and can be as long as I choose but they no longer test.

First off Congrats… You have made it farther than most do… and I respect you for that..

For random testing yes any clinic should be able to do it for you… But of course there will be a charge…

Good Luck and best wishes to you.

Last year I had a pre-employment drug test and could not produce enough urine to take the test. I was given water and the next test was diluted, of course. At that time, I had to leave to get to work and was marked as refusing to take the test, according to D.O.T rules. Needless to say, I did not get that job. I read on the D.O.T website that after a failure or refusal, you have to get substance abuse counseling, but it looks like it applies to someone who is already working, not pre-employment. Has this happened to you or do you have knowledge of this? Can I take another drug test or have i been red flagged and need to take counseling, even though I have neither a drug or alcohol problem?

I suffer from ADHD and have my whole life. I have always preferred to manage the symptoms on my own through diet excercise and structure. Recently I have become very overwhelmed by the symptoms… I have been through counseling, completely removed sugar and alcohol from my diet. I have tried planners, sticky notes, journals, meditation, yoga, everything. I need help! I went to the doctor yesterday to see if I could get a prescription until I can get myself back on my feet. The doctor said I needed to come back and undergo a blood test and urinalysis. Is this a normal procedure and why?

I’ve been on probation for six months now, half of my probation sentence for a dui, and I’m just wondering how often my color will be called for random screening, and how to go about getting my probation mitigated.
The reason I’m asking is not because I’m worried about passing the tests, but because it costs me a lot of lost time at work to take them. And I’m the sole provider for my son, so every hour counts.
I started the probation six months ago, and I had to do drug and alcohol counseling, as well as an assessment to determine my addiction level. When the assessment came back with the results saying that I needed no further treatment, my P.O. got pissed, and decided to assign me a color for random testing. This woman has not liked me from the moment I set foot in her office. She threatened to lock me up for V.O.P. when she found out I was taking cough syrup, for a cold, and I wasn’t sure if it contained alcohol. I’ve never been in any trouble with the law before, so if I don’t understand what she’s talking about and ask her a question, I get bitched at and threatened some more.
I have all my fines paid off, I’ve satisfied everything the court has asked of me, except the last six months of this probation. That is why I’m curious how to go about mitigating it.
