Question by alianna r: How will I get my bestfriend to undergo alcohol rehabilitation?
I haven’t really talked to her about this, but I’ve seen her and I know her alcohol consumption has risen. Ever since her parents got divorced and her boyfriend left her, she’s been wasting her time and money on alcohol. I don’t know what to do.

You said that you haven’t talk to her yet. That’s the first thing you should do. You can enlighten her about the bad effects that alcohol can have on her body. I have included links below that have information about that. Make her see that she’s not doing herself any good by taking alcohol again and again. She’s only giving herself temporary and fake happiness. What’s more, she’s also damaging her body and health and causing unnecessary grief to the people who hate seeing her turn into that kind of person. Hopefully, she’ll see your point. Be supportive, tell her that you’ll be helping her get through the whole rehab ordeal. Good luck!

Question by darla n: What can I do to get my cousin to undergo alcohol rehabilitation?
She lives with us. Her mom is far away and doesn’t know that she has really been alcohol addicted. I don’t know what I’m going to do.

You should probably start by talking to her and her mom. Get in touch with her mother and tell her the situation of your cousin. Have her talk to her daughter as this might help convince your cousin to get herself treated. If this doesn’t work, though, you can always turn to alcohol intervention. Staging an intervention could prove to be effective especially if her closest family members and friends are there. You can ask the help of a professional, called intervention specialists, for this. Good luck!

Question by brittani LS: Why should a woman stop drinking alcohol or undergo alcohol treatment first before deciding to get pregnant?
One of my closest girl friends married last month and promptly expressed her desired to have a baby. I am bothered because she’s an alcoholic, though she doesn’t want to admit it. When I advised her to undergo treatment first, she just fired back another question to me.

Question by debbie p: How can I get my niece to undergo alcohol rehab?
My teenage niece lives with me, since my sister (her mom) travels abroad. My sister doesn’t know about her daughter’s alcohol addiction, and I don’t know how I’m going to tell her. I want my niece to undergo alcohol rehab, but I haven’t tried talking to her yet. What am I to do?

Best answer:

Answer by abbie ln
Well, you should start by talking to her and her mom. Get in touch with her mom and tell her about the problem you’re experiencing with your niece. Have your sister talk to her daughter. Maybe then you would be able to get your niece to agree to undergoing treatment. Staging an intervention with her mother would probably prove to be more effective. If you know other sober people, such as your niece’s close friends, it would be great if you can get them to participate in the intervention as well. We all know that teenagers are more likely to listen to their friends rather than relatives, so getting her friends to persuade her would be a big help.

Good luck and I hope everything goes well!

Question by cielo t: Will persons who experience alcohol withdrawal symptoms have to undergo addiction treatment?
I have a friend who was an alcohol addict. She stopped 2 days ago and I think she’s experiencing withdrawal symptoms. She’s been having a hard time sleeping, and when she does sleep, she gets bad dreams. She experiences nausea a lot and has clammy hands. I told her she should get herself treated, but she doesn’t want to. Is this normal?

They don’t have to, but I would recommend it before the tremors and hallucinations start.
